That's the oil filler. It looks like the oil filter sitting next to it, too.

Assuming they kept the layout of the other FB engines, it's mounted underneath the engine.

They may have gone to electric assist, like on the Ford F-150, no pump required, that would be better than putting it under the engine IMHO.

I like how the oil filter is on top, that would make it really easy to change.

Like the frankenwedge? That is a good idea. Was thinking 90s MR2, because there isn't any power steering stuff in the ECU diagrams, so that means it's handled separately, which makes me think it would be easier to adapt. Plus, it would be really easy to source parts for. The only question would be making all the lines attach.

No power steering pump.
Electric motor assist on to the steering collum. Aparently like on the latest 911? or porsche of some sort?
But feels better. ( from what i've heard from one of the driving reviews )
Gives it more direct steering feel.

electric power steering is really easy to add. a lot of people add it to old 50's cars because it's easier then sourcing the original ps pump/generator combo. the units are really small and put their power to the column so the only large components are under the dash. i was against it when they first came out but am for it now that i don't have to work around the pump and lines in the engine bay.

upside down oil filters on top of the engine are a stupid idea. many car companies from cadillac to toyota have tried that and all went away from it.

What's so bad about it? Leaking when you take it off?
