Before you say it I already know what you are going to say, but...

Three days ago I drove my SVX and had no problems. Today I started it and before it had even warmed up it started making this clicking noise that would go on for about 15-20 seconds, then it would compensate and it would go away for maybe a minute or so, then start clicking again. Besides that it still seems to drive fine. Thinking it might be low on oil I put in a couple of quarts, but that had no effect. The sound seems to be coming from the passengers side and top of the engine.

What do you think this could be? Rod? Lifter? Bad plug? Bad wire?

On another completely different subject: Does anyone want to buy a 1993 Teal SVX LS?

Re: Before you say it I already know what you are going to say, but...

Get a solid shaft screww drived and put it on the top of the injector so you can listen to them fire. You can find out if its a injector and rule that out first.

Is that a solid shaft screw driver? What do I do with it? Listen to the end of it?

Injector, sticky lifter exhaust rattle, flexplate. Oh and don't forget to take out the added oil unless you really needed 2 quarts of oil. That's what they make dipsticks for

Re: Before you say it I already know what you are going to say, but...

Put the tip on the metal screw driver ontop of the injector, on the metal that holds it and put your ear to the handle end and you can here the injector working. If one sounds different to the rest you have found the problem. Do it on idle.

Hey dominus, I'm close to you in fair oaks, I have the factory manuals, maybe we could troubleshoot your issue. There is also a good mechanic near the vienna metro. Let me know

Sounds like a lifter to me, but I don't know what a "flexplate" is or how it might sound.

Re: Before you say it I already know what you are going to say, but...

Update: The car does not drive fine. It drives "okay" but it is quite rough and there is a repeating wump wump wump sound. I don't think it is an engine knock as the sound goes away completely at times. I think it must be something electrical.

Listening to that video I hear the same sound (depending on where the mic is) as an injector or... the coil shorting. It's hard to tell by that audio... ..It does not sound like a lifer... It doesn't seem to be regular enough for that. My bet is a short... on the injector or the coil...
