Once you drill out the back of the rivet that holds the stock hood bracket to the shaft, the parts will separate and you will find the white nylon bushing.

This bushing allows the parts to keep the shaft of the ball stud centered in the hole. There isn't a lot of stress on the nut; I just applied some Loc-Tite to the threads and tightened the nut snugly, that's all you need to do.

Use 2 ball studs for each side. One is attached into the hood, where the original ball stud is attached to the strut and one on the bottom bracket.

You can use one of those nylon center/ metal locking nuts if you prefer.

Installed the HOOD lifts last nite.. They're great! Hold the hood up so high, I cud pull my engine out with the hood ON!
