Is this filter too low?
Car has been off the road for 2 years,I have decided to tax test and insure it again.I have changed all the fluids in the engine/running gear.I bought a Porsche 944 oil filter(Mann W719/22) it fits perfectly but seems to hang very low(probably because it is a UK car and has a oil cooler/sandwich block fitted as standard) Do I take take the risk of it hitting/catching on something on the road surface?

Re: Is this filter too low?
Ya, having the oil cooler there I'd say a factory sized filter is safer for you unless you have some sort of skid plate. (more than the plastic one). The larger filter might give your engine a little bit better wear resistance, but if it gets ripped off because you came up an inch short of ground clearance your engine wear will accelerate VERY quickly.

Re: Is this filter too low?
I think you could be right,I will wait till I get it up on the four poster ramp for its MOT test, and see what the mechanic/tester thinks (he's my uncle)
