Dayle, you have to realize how unlikely it is that this feat can be pulled off.

Re: Turbo kit in the works

chances are Ill be starting a kit in the next
few weeks, at least the prototype kit.
the turbo, easy, plumbing, ..easy, more
fuel with ECUtunes help, should be easy.
Safe amt of boost, about 5.7

And it should look something like this
for starters
(btw, for anyone ready to knock this idea down, save your breath about "how bad" and non effective this idea is.
Unless youve driven a car with one like this on it, dont bother criticizing the idea.
Doing the kit wont be all that hard, how long the motor or headgaskets can actually hold up, hard to say.
Depends on the condition of the motor its put on.
But with some new Cometic headgaskets and ARP headbolts, a motor should be okay for 80k miles or more.

Re: Turbo kit in the works

Well shiet, you beat me to it. I made a thread about this months ago, and this is exactly how I plan to turbo my SVX. Except, with three times to boost.

These put down phenomenal results, they put 350z at near 400 hp to the rear wheels on like 8 psi. And to top it off, they're dirt cheap. You can buy a full turbo kit for 1650.

Re: Turbo kit in the works

why do overboard ??? thats where you are going to always run into problems.
I had honda idiots that come into my shop who
have visions of grandure about running 15 psi
on their b18 blah blah...
why ???? more boost, more obstacles and more
problems.

My goal, simple kit, low cost and little to no
problems and keep it around 8 psi or less..
The whole idea is to keep the car reliable
yet faster.

Its still only a matter of time before I pop a
headgasket, and when I do Ill have the good
gaskets and bolts on the shelf ready to install.
Pull the heads, do a valve job on them while
Im at it later on.

Re: Turbo kit in the works

this is the smartest and best way to turbo an SVX if you are going to even consider it.
Make you own kit, we are going to be selling the
off the shelf universal starter kits.
All you need to do is mount or hang the given turbo unit
oil return pump and intercooler provided, after that youll have
to run and build your own charge pipes and outlet pipes and
maybe the air intake pipe (which isnt that hard to do really)
and and its done. They are out of the box using
a 6lb spring in the wastegate.
Im going to contact Mike at Ecutune to either have
a custom chip made or possibly just use his
Stage II upgrade using the bigger injectors and Z32 maf.
From there, add a wide band O2 sensor and boost gauge in a dual pillar pod and hope for the best

This camaro we just did worked out nicely and under the car is so much like the Svx too. I think the Svx actually has more room too which is nice.

Oh, one more thing, add one of our Euro front bumper covers would top it off for the placement
of the Intercooler.

Re: Turbo kit in the works

yeah, people like to knock down stuff they dont know
about and usually its the same people who arent even
going to buy the stuff in the first place...
serious people look on the more positive side of any situation
and work thru any situations that are presented to them
in the process.

Re: Turbo kit in the works

Very similar to the STS (Squire Turbo System). They have been working well for years. Lots of guys have them on their GM trucks.

Re: Turbo kit in the works

It is an STS turbo, you can read it in big letters on the turbo in the first picture. And technically they own the patent so I would think it would be against the law for anyone else to try and replicate it.

Re: Turbo kit in the works

Remount is an awesome Idea as long as you put the nipple for the wastegate reading a lot closer to the throttle body and not in the turbo like a lot of set ups are. This way a 6psi spring in the external gate will open at an actual 6psi and not 6psi it sees at the turbo. With that much charge piping there would be a big drop off and 6psi at the turbo is a lot less then 6psi at the throttle body.

Nice fab work btw! My system I'm working on will be a full bolt on as well (with the removal of the washer bottle) but it will be an engine mounted kit with a fmic. It will require a little bit of the front bumper to be trimed but nothing insane.

Looking forward to seeing it!
