Intermittent ABS Antilock Brake problem

I've got my ABS light on again, and as always, it's picking up as the front right sensor.

More than once, I've had the light come on after doing suspension or brake work on that corner of the car. What's odd to me is that, in doing the brakes, the tone wheel and sensor aren't moved, so I don't really feel that their spacing is suspect. It's possible that the wire is faulty, but I load and unload the suspension all year when changing tires for autocross or putting the snows on, and I don't think the light has come on following a tire change.

Any bad guesses? I've got a new sensor, but I'd hate to put it on if I don't have to.

Re: Intermittent ABS Antilock Brake problem

You can get this problem if the front axle nut is loase or the bearing is shoot. Check to see if the wheel wobbles. The last thing to check is if the clearance form the tip of the sensor to the sender plate is right. Some times you need to adjust the shims between the sensor and the backing plate.
Front sensor clearance 0.7 to 1mm (0.028 to 0.039in) and for the record back one 0.5 to 1.0mm (0.020 to 0.039in).

Re: Intermittent ABS Antilock Brake problem

Check the tone wheel if it has a crack in it. That was my problem when my ABS light came on. It happened right after my mechanic did some work on my suspension.
