New random high idle, why?

Twice last week, when I get to my destination, I'll put the car in park and it idles at 1250 to 1500. If I shut the car off, then turn it right back on it idles fine. If I race the engine like a carb idle kickdown, no change. I haven't noticed any other changes. Fluids are fine from what I can tell, only a small oil gasket leak.

Is the car completely warm when you get there?

I had these same symptoms, plus erratic shift points. In both cases, problem was TPS.

Re: New random high idle, why?

It's at normal full temp. In fact, the first time was after 598 miles with 1 stop for gas. (I've made a few trips with it before, put 20000 miles on in the year I've owned it) I'll try checking the tps this weekend. Thanks. I'll also check the throttle body, since I have never even looked at it yet.
