It's probably about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive for you (depending on how you drive and traffic). It's about 2 hours for me and I'm 35 minutes west of Columbia.

I probably won't make it. That is a hectic time for me.

This sounds to be a barrel of fun. I'll be there, with a cooler and some guiness!

Re: 4th of July meet, (all car)

I wanted to ask, what are the local hotel accommodation's? Could I get some phone numbers so i can get rates for the weekend? I could also just bring the truck and trailer the SVX, if there's a place to park, and set up an air mattress in teh back of the truck for ample sleeping room.

Jay,

See the first post of last year's Pumpkin Carve thread for some motel options.

EDIT: Of course, those are last year's rates; I haven't checked for this year yet.

And if you don't want to go out for more beer, there is a beer truck that sells 6 packs or cups.

Bring a tent! You don't really want to drink and drive!

I won't cross the railroad tracks for 3 days!

Showers available, etc..

Re: 4th of July meet, (all car)

Jerry,

How big of an event is this?

How many cars and people come to this event?

What kind of cars?

Are there any shiny pretty Hot Rods?

I am starting to get excited!

About 3 or 4 hundred cars, Street rods, muscle cars, pony cars and ricers.
Pick'm ups and antiques too.

Re: 4th of July meet, (all car)

Hey, I'm thinking seriously about coming up. Had so much fun at Reading, and just like old cars! Did I miss a link about this? Can I just pop in for a few hours with my SVX or it that impractical the way the parking will be set up? How does registration work? (My local friend's husband might want to come along.)

Didn't send a private message because I wanted to warn OT and his lady that they might have to help pull me into the fold again. OT - still have those wiper blades? No biggie either way....

A few HOURS?? You need to stay for a day or two or three!
The really fun stuff doesn't start till the gates are closed to the spectators!!

Throw a tent in the car and roll on up!
Music at night, tire smokin' on sat and sunday afternoon, poker runs, (If you are sober enough to leave the fairgrounds)

Motels are available, but you miss all the antics if you leave.

Registration for the weekend is $40. fri, sat, sun. Sunday only is $20.
Gets 2 adults and 3 kids in. Free camping, lunch provided on sat.

68 west to 220 South, about 4 miles, turn left. (fairgrounds).
Sign on 68 has 'fairgrounds' on a BIG sign.
Go across the railroad tracks and register. follow the road to the right and stay on blacktop through 3 left turns. Stop and look for a yellow 'Gadston' flag. (snake coiled up with 'Don't tread on me') and a white 87 GMC pickup.
I will be working the run so I use the GMC.
There will be SVXi there at different times.
OT,s supercharged car, Jay's car, Nick's black and some others. I HOPE to see a LOT of them this year.
We will DOMINATE that corner!

That be US!!

Re: 4th of July meet, (all car)

I have scanned the Registration & Information form in PDF format. It has the dates, contact names and other details.

No directions, but you can probably Mapquest/Google "Allegany County Fairgrounds" in Cumberland, MD. OR just go to their website.

And yes, they mis-spelled "Allegany" County on the PDF form -- they spelled it like the "Allegheny" County near Pittsburgh!
