Daughters offered the use of their 'Starlings' for the pic!

Remember the Starlings?? Two daughters, two birds. Both birds are doing fine.

If I sit in the right chair, a Starling will land on my sholder in short order!

Alex is turning into quite the singer! He makes all kinds of noises. Other daughter has taught hers the 'Steelers' fight song!

I will be getting the best care for the eye that money can buy this week.

It will suck to be laid up for the extra time, though. I had to make some arrangements before I went there. I guess that ALL the things that I wanted to do before the end of the year will have to wait till spring!

I had BIG plans for the winter. So far, I've hauled firewood and sat on my A$$!!!

Sitting on your ass, and hauling firewood, eh?

For some people, that's a dream occupation,

Get the gals to pose the picture for you, Long John Silver.

Happy Christmas to all the family.

Well,
I called the DR yesterday. He was south of Baltimore enjoying his day. When he heard the 'symptoms', he said to meet him at the Hagerstown office. We climbed into the other Outback and headed east.
When we got to the complex, there was (1) car there. The whole area looked like a 'ghost town'. A nurse was waiting at the door. She started 'prep' stuff and Dr arrived 15 minutes later. In short order, I was laying on a table with a brand new gas bubble in my eye.

It seems that my 'rapid fire' sneezes had torn the retina loose next to the repaired area, and the rest of the way around!

75% detatchment! if the repair had not held, it would have come ALL the WAY loose!

It's back to the laser tomorrow.

Neck is getting stiff from holding my head 'just right'.

Merry Christmas

Wow, Jerry you're lucky it didn't come all the way off. And also lucky that you have a Doc that would put down everything he's doing to make sure your fine!

Good luck with everything

I can use this machine without too much discomfort. I have set my chair lower, raised the keyboard and turned the brightness down. I have moved it so the light is off to the side and behind me and cranked the 'fonts' up larger so I can sit WAY back.I can't use wife's machine at all!

I am going to try to set up the machine at work the same way as this one so I can get back sooner.

I had been working with one eye closed for the last part of the week.

I have to sleep setting up, with a blanket wrapped around my neck to keep the head/bubble in the right spot. I was getting stir crazy from over 24 hours in the chair so here I am for a short visit.
I got to hug 4 of six grandkids today! ( yea, I picked up a 'stray'.)

A friend of mine has a 5 year old daughter and all her Grandpaps are deceased. she 'adopted' ME!! ( and I am HONORED!)

Got-er-Done yesterday! Only took 484 ZAPS w/the laser to put Humpty-Dumpty back together (this time).. I was fine untill I had to go over a 2,000 ft plus mountain. The change in atmospheric pressure set me WILD!! I couldn't believe how bad it hurt. It took about 4 hours for the pressure to release and the pain to quit. Since the tear was bigger, the gas bubble is bigger. That is why the mountain didn't hurt as much last time.
No pain at all since about 9:00 last night, Thank GOD!!

I Will be back at work Friday, then I have 4 days off to get back to 'my' normal. I just have to wear a patch on it to keep the bright lights out.

I don't really do a lot of, well, NO physical, 'work'. I sit at a desk and type in numbers, answer phones and the 2 way radio. ( but I do it well)

As soon as my 'driver' wakes up, we will be taking a trip to the machine shop to get the heads shaved and polished up for lil' red wagon. OT will be back in a few days and I don't want to hold him back on my 'project' Outback.

I am glad that you actually went to a doctor, Jerry.

Everyone was asking when I was going in to get the eyeball fixed! They couldn't believe that I was back in 2 days!

Power of Prayer.

Well, I've spent 2 1/2 booring weeks doing what I'm supposed to.
I have to go back tues for (hopefully) the last check up.

I still have a blue bubble that blocks 1/3 of the vision in the right side, but 20/20 above it.

All the projects that got ignored in november are still being ignored. I did stop by OT's sunday and help set the engine back into the Outback, though.

Thanks to all that care.
Joe, I wish your Mom the same degree of success with her surg!!!

I had tried to post on the topic, but hit the wrong thing and lost the post.
How's she doing??

Last check-up, 20/20 in the BAD eye!! ( hope I don't have another sneezing fit!) Still have a blue bubble, but it is smaller. Still BOOORRED!!
Still waiting for 100%. Damned glad to be able to SEE all the way around the right eye!

Final tally 1,081 'zaps' with the laser to repair the damage! That was 2 different 'visits. My insurance spent over $5,000 on the first part. I have not recieved the bill for opening the office on a 'Holiday' and SAVING my eye, while everyone else was spending quality time with the family..

Chet Patal ROCKS!!!

Hi Jerry

I missed your post on this, I'm glad you are on the mend and your bubble is going away, like all bad gas.

Mum's great thanks. She has had a lens fixed rather than a retina, but her eye looks a lot better now. It was red and swollen for 2 or 3 weeks, but now looks normal, and the stitching has subsided. Her vision improves by the week and she is happy with it.

Not bad for 81, eh?

Joe

Indeed!! Mine is going to be 89 this year. She still pitches horseshoes and drives herself everywhere! She dances in one 'troupe' and sings with another! She joined the 'Red Hat Society' a couple years ago. She still tends her garden, etc. Tough ol' girl!

Did you notice the 'Coat of Arms' post? Is there a place that a person can compare 'what he has' to what is registered on your Island? My people once inhabited it too. I hear that 30% of Ireland is named Wilson!

Really? 30%?

It could be I suppose, but Wilson is mostly a Welsh name.

We get invaded so often over here, we stopped checking Who's Who long time ago

I'll check up the heraldic crests and get back to you.
