i have a security light, and a security button (i think?) under the steering wheel, tried pressing it, holding it for 3, 5, 6, and 10 seconds. nothing seems to happen.
did these come with a full security system stock?

would it be worth it to do a engine flush, oil/oil filter change, and run synthetic?
doesn't burn a drop of oil or any smoke at all out the back.

the stock rims at 16" rims, theres not enough room for 17" in the stock wheel wells is there? if not, what would you guys recommend for a new set of tires if i go with another set of 16" rims?
The Canadian models didnt come with a factory alarm, but you guys did get the heated seats!

Theres plenty of room for a 17" wheel (lots of people have 18s even).

Welcome to our little spot in the internet!

I'm not aware of heated seats?
I believe someone put a alarm system in, but took it out or something.
Also, anyone know where to get one of these bad boys?

Welcome to the site. I don't know where the key chains are available. If there is not a tranny filter or cooler on it, it would be worth while doing those things.

Was your car originally US or Canadian?

If you actually have the button marked "security" (is it one of the square buttons in a row on the left hand side of dash below the gauges?), my understanding is the factory security system is installed. I thought cars without would have a blank "dummy" switch cover there. Does the red LED light flash on the button?

Going to a bigger diameter wheel size is no problem (I have 18", I think a few 19" or even 20" are out there). You just downsize the tire sidewall to keep the diameter the same. I run 40 series tires with 18's vs. 50 series on 16's. The sidewall is about half the height, but overall diameter from tread to tread is only off by a fraction of an inch, not even enough to affect the speedometer much less cause fit issues. And lower sidewall = handling improvement. Where you have to be careful is offset of the wheels, too much off stock and you are going to rub fenders no matter what size you go with, even 16's could rub if the offset was really off. The high offset, combined with the bolt pattern, used to make it really hard to find aftermarket wheels that fit the SVX. The last couple years a lot more have materialized though, and now there are even a handful of stock wheels from other cars that look great too.

These "bad boys" have not been created yet. This is a Photoshop version I did a few years ago, using the Alcyone hood emblem as a base. See THIS THREAD to see what is/was actually out there.

I am in the process of using this image in trying to get some manufactured at a decent price with low minimums.

On the subject of keychains, I managed to find a mint example of the sterling silver SVX keychain mentioned in the last attachment.

The problem is the owner in Germany wanted 165.000EUR ($234.00) plus shipping.

believe i'll just get a normal Subaru one (with the stars and all) instead. cheaper/easier :P
if i possibly found someone that would make a number of the Alcyone badges, how many people would be interested and how much would everyone accept to pay for them?

We have discovered over the years that even though all SVX's were made in Gunma Japan [probably all on Assembly Line C], the VIN code is different for different markets.

It is probably safe to presume the US and Canadian VINs are very similar, although there are slight model differences in these two markets.

Check the VIN decode chart here

It is likely the number you quote would signify total number produced in that manufacturing year, for all markets up to your car rolling off the line.

I think the sequential number resets for the next manufacturing cycle, rather than keeps on clicking up.
