New car smell!

Hi, a friend is in the market for a "new" car. At least a 1990 or better.
Needs to be RWD, manual, not a convertible, and less than $12000.
He's thinking 300z, Mr2 turbo...
Any suggestions???

Yup, he's thinking about the Supra and the RX7. He doen't seem too interested in Porsches, or BMW's(higher insurance).
Also considering Corvettes, and "old" Vipers.
I just thought those of us who drive unique cars such as the SVX might know about other "non usual suspect" cars. I suggested the Lexus SC too.

Well if hes looking at old vipers and that kind of stuff i'd suggest the NSX (always been one of my favorites). I think a '91 can be had for around 20k.

One of the vineland guys was selling one on ebay a while ago. It was black with a ricer body kit. I would think a RWD SVX would handle like crap because of the crappy weight distribution.

It would... but doesn't mean it cannot be done.

The MX-6 is a ford probe with different body panels. Same everything else, including the KL-DE 2.5litre v6 engine in the GT, 2.0litre in the base and SE, fwd transmission, driveline, electrical system, etc. At least from 92+. The 89-91 came with either a 2.2litre in the base and SE, the GT came with a turbocharged 2.2litre.

I actually think the Ford Probe is an MX-6 with different body panels. I think the Mazda was out first.

I'm open to correction if somebody knows different about the launch dates?

Joe

Rip the bodies off, and you get a Mazda platform, if that's what you're looking for.

The MX-6 came out in 1988, and the Probe followed in 89. So says Wikipedia anyway.

But they're both FWD if I remember.
