Heh. Nice landshark.

But yeah, I don't mind the style of the bike, it looks kinda neat... it's just I despise straight pipes and exhaust systems that are obnoxiously loud. It's not like they're even having loud pipes for a reason either.... on a yamaha R1 or hayabusa, you know the exhaust is loud so they can squeeze a few more HP out of it. On a harley? Only because it's the thing to do, and so all the other Harley owners don't go "FAGGUT! YOUR BIKE IS PUSSY QUIET!". Ugh.

That's a Honda, right?

Actually, I know little about motorcycles but appreciate them as a sort of sculpture, and that's a good looking bike. I live about 100 yards from the main drag through town, a popular weekend-run route for seemingly every bike club in northern Georgia, so I'll chime-in on the aversion to straight pipes. It's crazy how loud some of these things are; almost as loud as some of the duals-with-glasspacks on so many of the pickups around here. Noisy rides are a hey-look-at-me thing.

I don't hate noise, I just hate being unfair treatment. If I run around at 11000rpm at 7am I'll be getting a ticket for noise violations but my neighbor's harley with straight pipes won't even though he's louder

Eggzactly. Also, it's a different mentality. Your pipes are loud for a reason, not just to be loud and say "HEY EVERYBODY LOOK OVER HERE!" Eating at a nice restaurant sure gets annoying when EVERY freaking harley has to 'rev' and accelerate as much as possible to attract everybody's attention. I mean... talk about compensation.

That's why I said to a point. I don't condone open exhaust, on a car or bike. But I have ridden bike with quiet exhaust and one slightly louder, and have seen a difference in how the idiots around me drive. Being seen, or heard, is the key to not being a statistic.

Again they where are the stats to back it up. There aren't any as its been proven by every single study that louder pipes do nothing for saftey. Reality is most people drive with their windows up and radio on too loud anyways to here anything beside them including straight pipes but it sure mays you're penis grow by installing them.

Do some research and you will find that the most likely to be killed on the road on a bike are the averager cruiser buyer. Those pipes must work wonders to kill more of their riders then any other cycle on the road!

I didn't refrence a study. I said in the few times I have ridden different bikes recently, I noticed a difference while on the louder one. I also never said open exhaust or exsessively loud, but don't let the facts get in the way of your rant. Cruisers are usually loud, but slow. Most of the bike crashes I have been to are of two types; young kids on sportbikes riding over thier heads, or just normal riding and killed by the jack a$$ making the left.

as Huck said, it is a nice-looking bike, and props to your pops for reducing the noise.

So you're riding take becomes fact then even though the true studies and crash data contradict your "test".

I said personal experience, like if you said the Legacy rides nice. Do I get to make you print a 47 page report that shows it rides better then a Lexus? And what crash data? I'm fairly sure most crashes involve sport bikes as the riders are younger, less experienced, and more aggressive. Who pissed in your corn flakes this morning?
