Old Man's new toy

Well i went home today on an extended test drive of Jay's new 5mt and I stumble upon my father's latest creation... He wasn't supposed to have picked it up this soon but this thing is bad ass... 1900 CC 113CI w/ a 6speed trans... Its a monster... Sounds like a funny car when he started it in the garage.

As one who mostly dislikes cruisers and the inherintly weak V-twin engine it doesn't look distastful minus those wheels. They need to go! I expect to see him riding come January!!!

Ah, but if I remember right you also have one or two gray hairs, just like the "new" cycle crowd does. LOL All those overgrown boys who couldn't have that Triumph or BSA when they were 18 are now buying cruiser toys. Too bad their not buying that Triumph as they can't seem to build a bad bike if their life depended on it at this point. Even their monster 2.3L truck engine rides like a bike should... that is if you can deal with the cramping of that massive engine shoving your knees 2 feet apart to sit on it!

Living where I do, I am constantly awoken around bartime by jerks with straight pipes on their harley davidisons. I do not understand the point of a bike that costs more, performs less, has less reliability, runs rougher, and makes more noise. If your dad does, props, but tell him to please refrain from revving his straight pipes at everybody hanging out outside, having a nice dinner at a restaurant with an open front end, or who knows what else. Nobody is amused. We don't look up to see 'who the cool guy is', we're wondering who the jackass is who gets away with 120db exhaust while the guy in the newer japanese sports coup is getting tickets for a stock system. Ugh.

Loud pipes save lives, but only to a point. I think it's a nice bike. Not my stly, but nice. Just make sure he waves back, they are the real jerks.

And I'm sure I can probably take him in the 1/4 mile with my 24 year old shaft drive 650.

Tom, I know you've said your father has been around bikes for quite some time. That wasn't directed to him but rather the dangerous weekenders out there riding 700lbs bikes they can't control.

I have nothing against cruisers, just not my cup of tea to buy something that is loud, slow, overpriced and useless in the winter.

Royal, there has never been a study that shows loud pipes are safer than riding an electric scooter that makes no noise. In fact if that was the case the 40-50 year old crowd shouldn't have the highest death rate per mile riden. Why don't you go out and start enforcing the laws on these idiots who need to be louder then my race car. Afraid Harley will be up your butt?

Ben... This thing is not slow at all... This bike is meant to be driven not cruising. Not sure of any hp rating but I would imagine somewhere in the realm of 150 maybe more... Thats a whole lot of torque

bikes with open exhausts make me want to string piano wire across the road.

it also makes me happy that they need to be revved every 3 seconds to keep from stalling. BRAAAAAPPP.......BRAAAAPPPP......BRAAAAAPPP......

frickin' idiots.
