Not hogging, SAVING them. We pick up SVX's that people are ready to scrap or part out because the tranny or something else minor goes bad, and bring them back to life. Most of the cars here (except for our 5 "daily drivers") are already promised to people as soon as we get the garage done and can get them fixed.

Earl just keeps them for himself.

This is a familiar syndrome. I had until recently 13 pairs of skis in my storeroom. Wouldn't part with em and my wife got concerned so off to see a "professional" to understand this affliction. My analyst described my condition as "hording". I guess skis only work one pair at a time (jus like SVX's) and after paying my fee, felt a hell of a lot better. Several days later I loaded up the van and off to the Goodwill donation station I went. Now I'm at 6 pair and feel so liberated from my former state of mind. Hey, any of you SVX Horders need to relieve your minds? Don't call a pschoanalyst, just let me or Earl know you have an item of interest and we may be able to help you!

So if i hold the door handle open and lock the car it will stay locked? Why the hell didnt they mention that in the manual??? Or on the owners video??? (its nearly an hour long and mentions everything under the sun except this!) And here i just assumed my car was defective and they didnt explain how to lock the car since any idiot should know how.

This is something I've known on a lot of older foreign cars...some require it, some don't...Thought it was common knowledge Oh well! at least you know now!

Well you have to hold the handle *while* you are actually closing the door. Not just the actual locking part. If you don't hold the latch open while you are closing the door, the lock will pop up when you close the door.

I suspect that it was intended to discourage people from locking their keys in the car.

As someone else mentioned, quite a few foreign cars have this design...

Every suby I have ever been in has it. Saved me from the keys being locked in a few times since you take that extra second before you let go of the handle, instead of just whipping the door shut.
