Trans, CV joint/boot maintenance

OK, my center diff pack is about done, but the car works fine as FWD.

The trans has been difficult to get into Reverse for some time now, and is not starting to hum at highway speeds, but the "AT Temp" light does not come on, so I think it can be saved.
Now the Speedo drops like 20mph and bounces around when the engine's not under load, and I noticed my front CV boots are bad.

So I bought a trans filter and gasket, CV boot kits, and ATF, and I'm going to try to prolong the life of these parts until I can replace them properly.
I'm going to try to clear the trans cooler lines while we're in there, but I have no way to "flush" the trans, we're only going to be able to drain, blow out the coolant lines, replace the filter and refill.

Are there any DIYs or tips on how to do the trans and CV services without causing mroe problems, and what tools are needed, tips for doing it right the first time, etc?

This is all on a '92 LS-L Touring.

THANKS!
