Thanks, it's been 7 years since I last did the timing belt, reminders are good. I couldn't believe back then how light the torques are, that was my first aluminum engine experience. How does the heli coil work? Not that I plan on needing to use it. Dave

Re: Cam seal change question.
I have never done it but it has to be...
If you start from scratch on damaged threads, the hole would have to be drilled out a specific size and then threaded to have the heli coin screwed in that the correct bolt would screwed into. I would guess that the heli coil would be installed on the bolt itself and then screwed into the hole... At the very least I would surmize that the heli coil would be screwed onto something and then put in the threads that you taped out. Never don it but someone will know. You apparently have a bit of heli coil left in because the bolt did have something to fasten into. May be ok but I would make sure what the story is. Good luck... Re: Cam seal change question.
The seller is Rockbottompricinginc, the item is Lisle universal cam adjuster 38220. $28.71 + $7 s&h.
This seller also has an ebay store: Tool Liquidators, located in Tacoma.

Re: Cam seal change question.
I just checked, there is one available from this seller. There are other sellers, do a search 'Lisle 38220 universal cam adjuster', I went for the 'buy it now' lowest cost.

DO NOT BUY THIS TOOL Will a vise grip that has a chain work on the sprockets? Not much room between the top of the sprocket and the back cover. As Old Tom has shown us, make your own sprocket tool. Dave

Re: Cam seal change question.
I tried to buy one here the day I got the information but I couldn't find the building. Got lucky I guess.
*be careful with the sprocket, they aren't that tough. Keith Last edited by kwren; 08-01-2008 at 08:43 PM. |
