Audiophile Question.

I could use a little info/suggestions. I have an older Alpine stereo/CD changer/amps. The changer is a 6 disc AiNet. Does anyone know if I could adapt the AiNet cable of the changer to fit the changer wire on the factory HU. I want to keep the stock appearance but still have good sound. What type of connector does the stock cd changer have? I no longer have my OEM stereo, Are they all capable of controlling a changer? Also I will have to use a stepdown to connect to my amps. Is there a better way to get a signal to the amps, via the OEM deck. Last I remember a stepdown is a cheesy way of doing it. Thanks in advance, I know it's a shot in the dark.
