Have you gotten a quote yet? At my local Subaru dealerships you're looking at an $800-$1200 job.

Good Luck,
Dan

No I haven't got with my service guy yet. I'll be right on it monday and will post what the actual damage is and the cost. Should I get new or used parts. If the money is not much different I'll probably go new. Thanks.

Mike

Here in Australia the job cost A$575, about US$430, that was for the C solenoid/transfer valve assemble, a new set of clutch plates, and labour.
Use new parts, any used parts may have the same trouble.

Harvey.

Definitely NEW parts. The expense is in the labor . . .

Obviously labor is much more expensive than labour!

Questions about binding

Just to follow up on this I ordered the new c solenoid tranfer part and they shipped it ground shipping instead of next day air that I requested. Very aggravating wait. I dropped the car off and my mechanic said I need to order the clutch plates, seals etc... He didn't even start the work. He's assuming the plates are already bad. Does this sound right? I read on another thread about a limited slip differential additive that has helped other people with this binding issue. I checked pep boys and advanced auto parts and they don't have it. A Brad Penn brand. Should I order the clutch plates, gaskets, etc... like he said. Thanks.
