If not, just send your paypal donation to:
chris@subaru-svx.net
(include your SVXWN login name for proper credit)

PayPal donation link http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/faq.php?

OR... snail mail to:
SVX World Network
1800 N Cole Road
C-106
Boise, ID 83704

Checks or MO made out to Jim Waldon (we dont have a DBA or a IRS non-profit tax filing yet, any lawers out there willing to help us out on this?)

Thank you all for your support and assistance. Normally I or Jim would just buy what we needed, but he had to buy an SVX tranny (you all know the cost and story on that), and I jsut bought my second SVX (also with a blown tranny). Money is rather tight right now for us both.
Chris, please confirm that the above e-mail and snail mail info are all still accurate. I talked to my wife and we definitely want to make a contribution towards this cause. Thank you for keeping the network advertisement free.

Address is NOT correct. I am in the process of moving. Thats why all the problems happened in the first place. I moved all the servers at my location to work to minimize down time. Of these servers, one was used for monitoring the servers at Jims location (the main web server, database server, and mail servers). A configuration error on the monitoring software after the move caused false pages to be generated and sent to my cellular phone. When after several times I checked the site and found it was actually up, I turned the the paging feature off. Then on Friday, the server actualy DID go down and over 340 flawless days of operation. I was not aware of thie becuse I was sick AND the paging was turned off. I only noticed when I could not get my email. A proper address WILL be posted when we are ready.

Missed deal

What we wanted for the price was a few of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
But we missed the deal.
We would be very happed with one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
But I seriously doubt we will rasie that kind of money.
For those interested we currently run the SVXWN (apache web server, PHP, mysql database server, and qmail email handler) on a single machine with dual Pentium II 450mhz CPUs with 2 meg L2 per processor and a gig of ram. We dont load the machine up much, but the database and the PHP front end take a performance hit to the 100mhz front side bus. We try to make up for this as much as possible with a cached RAID controller with 10K RPM drives.

The only other time I remember contributions being requested was when additional cooling capability was needed and I was happy to contribute. I agree with the idea above it might help contributions if you would post something where people could see who had contributed (and who had not ) in a very subtle way. Of course we all know that several contribute simply in time spent on monitoring and administering the net which is also appreciated by all.

I will pledge $50 and will tell my son to do the same. ALSO I WILL EXPECT ANY BIG MOUTH ON HERE (like mine) to match my contribution. I am referring to those big mouths (like mine) that fill up the political forum in particular.

I MEAN GO FOR THE BIG ONE.

Most forums have a 'Donating Member' icon that they place by a member's avatar.

I'm no big-mouth and I won't be able to match your pledge. Whatever people can spare is fine whether it's $5 or $100. Either way, anyone who donates towards this forum on any level should be recognized.

I look forward to making my contribution. Understand that I no longer own an SVX, but this is the only forum that I've donated money to. Like many people on here, I have a passion for these cars.

I suspect the parties to whom I am referring have no doubts about my targets.

Thanks Dan, I obviously don't read all the links........

OK, I don'thave two thousand bucks to spare right now, but I don't see why we should not get one of these babies if we have the willpower and the right attitude.

20 people donating $100 is the cost of one of these, if my maths has not gone too rusty.

Or 200 people donating $10 would do the job. How many members have we got?

I suggest right now we set up a sticky thread for pledges to the Server Fund, and start a list of donation pledges. We have a target to aim for, get the show on the road!

Joe

Glad to see you knew who I was talking about (at least one of the targets )and also happy to see you will do it. I think the site deserves it.

Now is the others will also lend their support to this great site with a bit if financial assistance.

You're OK sometimes Robert, but if you tell anyone I said that, I will say you are just a typical lying Democrat.
