US grey vs CA grey vs AU grey interior tone?

Hey does anyone know if there is any difference in the color tone between the US, CA, and AU grey interiors?

I know gray leather interior was only available in north america. It is black everywhere else.

Strange you should say that Mike. I have a black UK car now, with black leather interior, which is a pretty sombre combination sure enough, but I like it.

Recently I took the driver seat out a few times to work on the TCU. I was surprised to note that out of the car in daylight, the leather colour is actually a very very dark grey, rather than black. I was about to send away for some leather conditioner, cleaner and black colour restore, and now I am a bit unsure.

I may have to send off a sample piece of leather to be sure I get sent the correct colour match.

Just my 2c

Joe

I would love to see some pics of this black interior. On more than one occasion I have heard people claim to have a black interior but every time they turn around and say "oh wait it's actually dark grey". I have seen a black steering wheel and shifter, but nothing else. Bring on the pics!

OK Michael, I will do, but I have no interior shots at present. I'll get one done soon, after a tidy-up. I did mention I have the dash stripped to work on the TCU wiring.

Take my word for it though. What goes for black in the car, when you see it in sunlight it is actually an extremely dark slate grey.

Now I know the US grey is very pale, a light colour.

I figure the vehicle VIN plate, at least it does on the Japanese ones, it should have an interior trim code. Mychailo could compare these trim codes between US and Canadian cars. David should have some info on this.

I think there may be a difference between model years too. I have seen some U.S. models that seem lighter than my 92. BTW Joe, my corner lamps are doing great thanks again, they are one of my favorite mods. Did you have any more trips to the breakers. I could really use some glass headlights

No Michael, not lately. SVX parts are more scarce over here than in the US.

Glad you like the lamps. I'm thinking of taking out the inner orange plastic bulbs from mine, and using the Philips silverfaced blinker bulbs. It would give an all silver look to the front lamps.

I might have another set of corner lamps, but no glass headlights. I'll keep you in mind if a set comes available.

Joe

hey Joe, I was wondering... do corners over there are JDM specs?
Over here they are and they cost around $66 a piece brand new if I am not mistaken ...

Hi Danny.

Yeah, the corners in the UK are the same as JDM spec.

The US ones seem to be a good bit different. They have an obvious orange part. They also seem to be used as marker lights or corner lights, i.e. lit up all the time while the lights are on. Ours just blink with the indicators, and our markers or parking lights are in the headlamp. I understand the US headlamps do not have parking lights inside them.

I'm not sure of the price but not much is cheap with these cars.

Joe

Here is some evidence of a black interior, not much and for all I know it could be painted. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...7&d=1148674289

Is this black? Seems pretty dark when you are inside.

This is an Australian spec 1992.
