South African SVXer
Cool, I see there's a S. African on the board now. Seems pretty far away, nice to have members from exotic areas.

South Africa is a cool place. Cape town is especially nice; great climate, good restaurants, a lot of gearheads. I was Lead Mechanical Engineer for the new US Embassy there, which was just recently completed. The Noble GT and Superformance cars are made there. Leaving Thursday, for 10 days, for Hoedspruit, South Africa, which is in the northeast, near Mozambique. Expect to see lots of zebras. Don't expect to see any SVX's

I wonder, what model they got there. US, Euro, or the non emissions model like Dannys?
Harvey.

I don't know about South Africa, but certainly Kenya is a big market for secondhand JDM cars. Most of the cars in Nairobi are Japanese. Subarus are very common.
No SVXes in Kenya, and no chance of getting one there because they have a maximum age limit of 8 years. Although sometimes, in Africa, these things can be negotiated.

Re: South African SVXer
reviving a thread that is 13 years old is like waking up from the dead in a new millennium.
is everyone who commented on this thread still active and did you ever find out who this guys was from South Africa? I clicked on the link now and he doesn't exist. anyway, I am from Cape Town, South Africa and bought a mint 1992 SVX in pearl white. this is my 9th Subie and love the car to bits. I am desperate to find out if there are more SVX owners in SA. from my source at Subaru South Africa, they only imported 17 cars back in 92 and they are only aware of 3 that are still on the road, but cant confirm anything. if anyone on the forum ever come to Cape Town, give me a holla. we have a very big active Subie owners club. |
