Sleep mask and a dvd that I have seen 100 times on repeat. (pirates of the caribbean and fight club are a couple of my usuals)
Drowns out the background noise and I've seen it so many times I don't pay attention to it.

At least thats what I do when I have to swing 3rd shift and sleep during the day.

Regularly though beer and the man show every night and I sleep fine.

Less stress helps too. I used to wake up alot at night thinking about work. I made the conscience decision about 5 months ago to not give a damn about work when I'm not there and I've slept very well ever since. Stress will keep you awake.

Sleep shmeep

Seriously though, I used to have a major sleeping problem. Then I had a talk with one of my psych professors and he told me that my problem was because I was using my bed for other things besides sleep, causing my body to subconsciously think about those things as I was trying to sleep. He told me that you should only use your bed for sleeping and sex. I've been following that practice for a while now and haven't had any difficulties.

i considered one of those, but then heard they can leave body impressions over time. too much $$$ to spend if it wears out quickly like that. how long have you had the Tempurpedic? you obviously like it i assume.

We've had it about 8 years now and are both still very happy with it. I ordered a "returned" model from their 90 day free warranty, but they delivered a new one at a significant discount. I swear I can't last more than 2-3 min after lying down on it . But then again, I'm old.

back when i was checking them out, it was mail order only, and i didn't want to drop all that loot on something i couldn't at least try out (especially a mattress), but now i think some mattress stores around here carry them. i may check one out soon.

i came real close to buying a Sleep Number bed, but i listened to Mrs. Shark, and ended up with an expensive, spring-loaded piece of **** mattress. i get to choose our next one.
