ok, i'm still a little confused. Are you wanting a serious track car? Or are you wanting a car that has a refined feel and speed to go along with it? The SVX is not a sports car, and if you are looking to get serious with autocross, than that Impreza might be the way for you to go, granted it looks like it will need a LOT of work. I wouldn't even think of using that Impreza for a daily driver, i've seen a lot of conversions that are like DSMs, fast, but they break down constantly

Havin both Imprezas and SVXi, I say they are BOTH great cars, but for totally different reasons.

The SVX get the looks and "Cool" department hands down...
Also the best Touring car by far...

The Impreza, is way more fun to drive around town, and on the twistys, & has a TON of aftermarket upgrades available (SVX has like...none...)
Plus is generally a super reliable car, rather hard to break. (with the RA swap, the reliability is probably thrown out the window though )

It comes down to what kind of driving you like to do, and which you personally like the best.

You won't get the "wow, that's a cool car....what is it" in the Impreza, like you will with your SVX...

Just my thoughts.....I wanted both....so I have one of each

I think it all depends how much the guy wants for the impreza and what kind of tranny it has. If it has the 6 speed and costs pretty cheap, you could just do a 6mt swap in the svx....
I probly wouldnt bother though, the impreza is basicly an econo-box mobile. Itd make a better track car than the svx, but it would probly become impractical to drive. if you can get both, go for it
As for your starting problems, im not sure but mabey its fuel pump related. then again, I dont know anything, so yeah
