Rear Hubs
Does anyone have any experience with their hubs going bad? What kind of noise does it make, and about how much is it to replace them? Thanks!

Usually, its the rear wheel bearings that go bad. Sometimes people warp the hub though when R&Ring the bearings, and then the hub needs to be replaced. Bad wheel bearings will make a howling sound that increases with vehicle speed. It can be quite evident even at 10 mph.

I always thought bearings made a screaming type noise. This is more of a long drawn out vibration type noise. Anyone with experience, feel free to offer help, im always willing to listen.........

Bad wheel bearings actually sound surprising similar to tire noise with the exception that the sound doesn't change on various road surfaces.

As Earthworm said, one way to differentiate between tires and wheel bearings is driving from one road surface to another. Its usually most effective if one road surface is very smooth. Its also possible to differentiate by driving at low speed. Tires usually don't start making noise until 30+ mph, but the wheel bearings can start making noise at as low as 10 mph. I drove for 6000 miles with at least one bad wheel bearing, and the bad wheel bearing sound was a sort of hollow sounding howl rather than a screeching sound.
