Alittle over priced?
I went and looked at a '94 pearl LSI the other day, really nice. Interior still looked brand new, outside had minor scratches (and one small rust spot). The thing is, the car doesnt have 1st gear or reverse and has 247,XXX miles and the guy wants $3000. I told him hes crazy and the most I would be willing to pay was $1200 (which I thought was alittle high for the car even). He wouldnt be swayed though, he lives in an air park near me and would like to use the engine for a kit plane. On the brighter side of things, if he pulls the engine I will be getting a very nice '94 SVX (w/o engine) for very very very cheap .

He's gonna use an engine with 247,000 miles in an airplane?! Yikes.
I agree, $3000 is to much for a car with a toasted transmission, mega-mileage, and a spot o' rust. dcb |

Just to give you a little ammunition, I bought my '92 SVX for 3,500.
Good transmission, Mint paint and body, and 151k miles on the car. I had to replace some power steering hoses, and replace one CV boot on it, but thats it... I'm starting to think I got a good deal though. There'd be no way in hell I'd buy that car for 3,000. |

That does seem a little high for that car. I would hate to see him pull the engine out of it though.

'92 Ebony, 135K miles, stuck solenoid C (full time 4WD), overall 7.5/10, $1500 (plus what it will cost to fix solenoid C).

Yeah, I told him he would never get that kind of money for it and then I told him what my 2 SVX's cost. $1400 for my '92 with 181K and some work need, and $4000 for my perfect condition '95 with only 91K miles. If he does pull the engine, I will be buying the rest of the car from him and then looking for a 5/6mt and an engine I can rebuild and modify.

I bought my runnign and driving svx with 151k miles on it for $1250 Needed a maf.. got it from Tom for letting him use my trailer.
and 2 More SVXes for $660 for the pair One has a bad trans and missing seats, the other has missing seats, a good trans, and is wrecked a bit in front. Some tell me I just have good luck.

If he wants the engine, I would see if he wouldn't trade a low mileage Boxer engine for the high mileage car. He wouldn't have to pull the engine, it would have lower mileage, and you get the car intact. Everyone walks away happy.
If he grumbles, throw in a couple of hundred in green to even the scales a little more. I'm sure a few of us have engines we'll let go. Heck, I have one with 79k on it. Disclaimer: I ain't pullin it. Too much effort in that word they call "pull".

Yeah I talked to him about selling him an engine and then selling me the car for ALOT cheaper, he said that would work really good for him. So if someone (mike) would find out if that parts cars engine is opperable, i might be getting myself a nice pearly.

(Im not able to sell it because in exchange for John rebuilding the 92 LS pearl he's keeping the 92 ebony's motor)
