front suspension clunking

My 1994 svx si started making a clunking sound when driving over any bumps, the dealer said that it was the front struts or the upper strut bushings...I ordered new complete front struts and new upper strut bushing and replaced them myself....guess what....the front end still clunks...and the dealer doesn't know what it is everything is tight and secure....does anyone have any other ideas as to what the real problem is......thanks..........

Did you check the swaybar bushings and the connecting rod?

I found that my connecting rod was so loose it would bounce all over the place.

Once I tightened it the noise went away.... and it was originally a very bad clunking...

I have a similar problem where a couple of times I would hear that noise when I am backing up while steering, like when I pull out of a parking space. I put my car up on a lift to check the suspension and it all looked good. So I torqued down the bolts and found that one of the front lower control arms had a loose bolt. I don't know if that fixed it but I haven't heard that clunking for a few days.

for those who don't know what they are talking about... The sway bar ends bolt up to the strut housing on the front struts... These bolts are more than likely loose... Tighten them to spec and you are good to go
