Could anyone point out where this line is. I have the new line I got at Advance Auto since Im tired of putting in PS fluid every week or so.

Here are some picture of the left side of the steering assembly where I dont see any rubber hoses? Also, there is a shot of the damage in rust where the leaks from the PS have corroded items.
thanks Chris
And I might add, sorry, that those are the ugliest pictures I have ever seen!

The hose starts at the PS pump reservior, and IIRC, it works its way down by the left side of the radiator.

Return line for Power Steering question

Hi,

If it runs from the pump res down to the rad then how can it drip down on to the left side of the manifold and steam up? Could the leak be coming from somewhere else?

Sorry about the pics I didnt have much room with the car jacked up Im just glad that they were in focus.

chris

One of the most common leaks is the O-Ring under the tank. Look at the How-To Docs to find out how to do this. Next, the high pressure hose could be leaking. It is very common for that one to leak as well. It goes down the side of the engine. Hope one of those things are the problem.

However, some person did leave a really neat, well written note on my windshield saying that my SVX has to be the ugliest car they have ever seen. Those stupid windows were part of the appraisal! They took their time time and left a real neat note! My car is the burgundy looking 1992 and was real clean and waxed at the time. I get a lot more compliments on the claret SVX than I do my silver SVX. Now that is cruel!

The return line comes from a PS fluid cooler that sits in front of the radiator. There is a low pressure line that goes to that cooler from PS rack. That could be leaking as well.

I had the issue that both my PS hoses (come from the PS pump - cooler and cooler - PS rack) were leaking about a month ago.
The cooler is just a long U-shaped pipe underneath your AC condenser (hidden by your radiator) and the connections to it are located on the passenger side.
I just happen to be looking underneath at my newly replaced valve covers gaskets.. leaking and noticed the ps lines were starting to leak too. So I just replaced them with some 7/16" Goodyear ATF hoses and universal clamps (the originals looked a little rusty) from Autozone. I haven't seen the PS leak return but I'm noticing the valve covers are dripping oil onto the lines.
