Knock Sensor

I already asked this same question in another forum, but I wanted to post it in this forum too, just in case anyone here knew anyhting else that might help me. My 92 SVX has a bad #2 knock sensor, but the situation is odd. When I first start the car, the check engine light (CEL) comes on, but as soon as the car gets to normal operating temperature, the light will go on and off a few times, and then stay off permanetly. I dont hear any knocking while driving, even with the CEL on. I only use premium gas, and according to the manual, the only time you get engine knock is when you use gasoline that is rated under 91. Im wondering if perhaps the knock sensor just doesnt work at cool temperature, but somehow begins to function at normal operating temperature. Or even if it is bad and doesnt ever work, if im using premium gas, does it even need to be replaced?
I geuss the main question is, if I dont replace it for awhile, is it going to hurt something?

As far as I know, Knock sensors will only retard timing, so only the performance will be affacted. Even with the prmium fuel. I have a very same situation on my SVX, CEL Light on when cold (not always, just sometimes) after a while goes out). Knock Sensos are there to retard the timing when they detect detonation. If one of the sensors is defective the computer retards timing anyway to be on the (safe side). I hope that make sense
