Removing back of seat

I am replacing my driver's seat due to worn and cracked leather. The bottom of the seat is fine, but I'm waiting for the top (back) section to arrive. I'm assuming it's easy to take out the old section. Can I do this without removing the whole seat? How many screws are there to take out the top half?

Don't try to change the leather without removing the seat. It is quite easy to take it out - just five screws and two plugs.

If your leather is cracked, you should think about a different sort of leather care. And do it at least once per year.

When I got my car, I even removed all leather parts.

Oh, I'm not removing the leather.......I have the back/lumbar/headrest assembly that I'm replacing, leather included. There should be some screws to remove. Not sure about the plugs. I'll read through the how-to again.

then you definitely need to remove the seat - otherwise you cannot get to the screws on the inner side

I'm going to do it either on Friday or Saturday when I have more time after work.

Yes, I actually had to sand down the legs on the stool and make some nice L-brackets to mount to the floor. Still have to try to mount the seat belt female end somewhere on the chair.....

Oh so you really want to see the leather one?.....LOL

Pics also in my locker.

When its done ! in the mean time you can strap a couple pillows on each of the chair and that should give some support on your sides until you get finished! . I think that is a very nice look too the SVX
