my car is missing during takeoff

My car is missing and it hesitates during acceleration and the check engine light is starting to come on. Could this be a simple tune up.

Check the how to lockers for how to pull up the check engine diagnostic codes. Could be simple, could be expensive, could just be bad gas. . Hard to tell until you check the code.

my '96 legacy gt did that and it was a loose spark plug wire, long shot, but it'd be easier than something else that could go wrong

With the coil on plug system the SVX uses, this is not likely. Coil could be failing however.

Could also be:
-tune-up (bad plugs, air filter)
-MAF failing
-fuel filter clogged

May also be other sensors failing.

Start with the easy-n-cheap stuff and work up.
