My life is complete. God can take me back now.

I just spent 37 wonderful minutes in heaven. I was given the keys to a 1987 Porsche 928 S4, a dealer plate, and no return time or supervision! It was like riding a Union Pacific freight train, 11 inches off the ground. After that, the owner took me out in his custom 911 Carerra 4S Targa, complete with 930 and 962 upgraded aluminum and titanium race parts. It sounds like a F-15 on takeoff! My life is now complete. I brought the 928 home and let the wife start it. It was the auto one, not the 5 speed. What a car. No one makes a car like Porsche. It just felt so German. Massive, yet light on it's feet. Solid with a light touch on the wheel to get her tail out and happy! And it sounds like a pissed off Camaro SS! And I get to do it all again on Friday!!!!! The 928, not the 911.

Thumbs up

Hmmm.... Are you getting really close to purchasing a 928 about 1.5yrs ahead of schedule?

Sounds like you had a blast out there!

awesome. i remember when i got my 928, it felt kinda strange for about a day, and from then on it was like an extension of my brain. it just did exactly what i wanted it to do. the braking power and handling is SO addictive. consider yourself ruined when it comes to owning other cars in the future. go give that Weissach suspension a workout!

Have you tried the RUF Porsche? I have seen the acceleration on one of those beasts... I dream in getting inside one of those... (0 to 60 in like 3.5 or 3.8 sec)

The Carerra 4S was AMAZING. It stops like it has an arrester hook. The wife said it was nice (the 928), but not until we move. I also have some other issues that have to be worked out. The auto was nice. Everyone I tell about getting a 928 tell me to get the 5 speed. My SVX was auto and this one was awesome. And the sound. Unreal. It sits lower then the SVX, at least when you climb behind the wheel. Alan, I agree, I think I am done with "normal" cars!!!!

I took the silver auto out again on Friday. My buddy came up from south Jersey and I took him for a ride. He loved it. He alsways had a soft spot for Mercedes so we took out a 190E 2.3 in bright red. It was pretty used up but rode nice. They have a V-12 SL in triple black with the removable roof. I didn't ask to drive that one. I looked over the 5 speed black and black S4 but after driving the silver auto, I don't know if there wolud be much difference in performance. Plus the SVX was auto and it was plenty fast enough. But this is in another league. I liked cruising around with the auto. Desicions, decisions......

the 928 auto was made by Mercedes and is pretty much bullet-proof. you can adjust the throttle cable to have it start in 1st gear instead of 2nd, and you can install a "parallel kickdown switch" (i used a momentary switch at the top of the dead pedal i could tap with my left toe if i felt like getting froggy ) for more responsiveness under part-throttle ( comments HERE )

The owner said what he liked about the 928 was it's Jeykel and Hyde personality. It lopes around in traffic like a "normal" car, but floor it, and whoosh! We did some unofficial speed tests and I have never drove a car that went from 80-100 so fast. OMG! I'll keep smiling for weeks!!!!!!
