Leftover???

I strongly disagree that cars were "leftover" from one year to the next---like supposedly leftover 92s for 93. The cars are manufactured with VIN numbers stamped on many parts. The VIN of course indicates the year. There were more than 301 93s manufactured for the US market. AND- 97s were NOT left over from 96. In fact, there were changes made from 96 to 97 such as even the standard tire size change. The 97 IS the rarest year SVX.

I also agree that the 95 would be the best car if you are thinking about modding. If you want it stock, then I would say the 97 with the 96 a close second.

Just my opinion, of course.

Plus sometime in 94, the switched to dual airbags and ditched the automatic seatbelts. Hate those things. Didin't even look at 92 or 93 because of the seatbelts. I would also add that I think 95 is the best year. Especially in laguna blue.

Pretty good Harvey.

But without a doubt, I prefer the sweet handling of a version L.

I'm reading about all this disparity between model years and I'm thinking, now wait a minute: These cars were virtually identical from first to last. You've got minor transmission tweaks and the transition from motorized belts to dual airbags and the door lock switch on the console and the on-board diagonostics update and a brighter wheel color and the '97 grille and tire size and... What else?

Regardless how many were sold and where, the '93s win the title Most Extraordinary, because they were designated specifically to commemorate Subaru's 25th anniversary of U.S. sales. Beyond that, and excepting optional equipment and trim lines, they're all essentially the same.

The "best" SVX is the one that makes its living getting you where you want to go, dependably and in style.

A lot of SVX's were left over from year to year. Leftover 92's were sold in 93, leftover 94's were sold in 95...etc. Subaru didn't sell leftover 92's as 93 models......its just that a lot of 92's went unsold until 1993 and therefore are counted in the 1993 total SVX sales. This is what makes it difficult to know just how many of each year were produced. All we know is how many were sold each year, and unfortunately each year's sales numbers include cars that were built one year but sold in another!

If there are more than 301 93's then where are they??? They seem to be seriously lacking on this forum. If the 93 production was in the thousands like the 92 was, wouldn't there be A LOT more 93 owners on this forum??

I fail to see anyone with a number over 301 on this list, and would expect to based on number of members, near fanatic following, etc. These are based on Vin BTW.

Another opinion

(edit) Never said it was the "best" as I think that's already been settled. Mine is not a garage queen either.

I have not linked to the thread, and I didn't look for it, but it is here. Someone talked to SOA directly and was told by them that only 301 were built for the US in 93.

5 Speed Automatic, riiight. Unless that person installed a transimission from a 2004-05 Legacy GT Auto which I highly doubt. He is either bluffing or just misunderstood the amount of gears on the tranny.
