well i thought i bought a '92
does anyone know where ALL the vin numbers are and how to read the date of manufacture from them. i have had the SVX for about 3 weeks now and love it (great daily driver). the thing of it is that some of the options are not matching what was availible in '92 (roof matches body paint, no SVX logo under rear windows...). i don't think i was deliberatly misled, but id like to know why it's not matching up.

If the car is green, the roof should be body colored. Also, they didnt have the SVX logo under the window till 93... so i think you're good.

Siegeliv,
Where are you located in the Mid-Hudson Valley? Are you near Kingston or Poughkipsie (spelling) ? That's old IBM country. Larry III Last edited by LarryIII; 02-01-2002 at 07:32 AM. |

Hey guys I posted to an old post actually a link that Lwin Maung posted and I am confused about production #'s. Heres mine but from what I read Mine was 1060 when there was only suppose to be 601 made (Anniversary) limited models.
JF1CX3538PH101060 any comments Thanks mike |

Mike
I believe the noumber 601 represents only the ones imported into the USA or North America (sorry about that - Canadians). The number 1060 represents the sequence number of cars manufactured at the plant for world wide sales. That's the only plausible explanation that I can think of. Larry III |

92?
yes larry III, i live in the land of IBM. there are not as many of the beemers as there once were. it is a beutiful area to live. i tend not to use my SVX through the twisties that we keep hidden up here, but they are perfect for my ducati.
i still need to check the vin number and compare it to the link thta was posted, but as i climbed in the cockpit today for my 50 mine commute i noticed the the production date is 6/91. it just does not resemble the discriptions and photos of the other '92s i see posted. hmmm? |

SOA's manager of distribution (for the entire country) told me himself that there were only 301 Barcelona Red 1993 SVXs built for the US. My VIN ends in 1254. If 301 Anniversary SVXs were built, that most likely means that mine is #254 of 301, and Mike's is #60 of 301. That's assuming that the VINs are sequential. There were, according to Joe Spitz, 3,859 SVXs sold in the US in 1993 - but I have YET to see a '93 that was originally painted in anything but Barcelona Red. My conclusion is that the remaining SVXs sold in 1993 were leftover '92s.

that means that i am the second owner.
i wonder why my car was auctioned off. see i bought the car in 98 with only 24,837 miles. that means in 4 years only that many miles was put on the car. maybe it was reposessed or the guy just didnt drive it that much......hmmmmm.......damn i wish i new. maybe the car was in an accident or a flood?
also that means it took 7 months to sell my car. i have a manufactured date of 5/94. hey man thanks a lot it was really cool to see where my car came from. still some mystery about this svx but i guess it really doesnt matter.
