Fuel Consumption

There is a company over here selling a device used to get the best Fuel/O2 mix in cars. they can install it in my car for $100 including labor. The device is similar to the one in this website: http://www.dsuper.net/~tonyg29/

My friend used it on his BMW 325 i and on his other Montero, (he is a cars freak like me) he said the thing realized gr8 difference in his car both to fuel consumption and power (little bit). so what do you think?? can it also have any impact on the V4 chip?? or is this a different case?

This is nothing more than a magnet. This type of device and similar devices (electromagnets) have been marketed for years to homeowners as water softeners. They don't work in that application and they won't work in this application.
The molecular bonds in a hydrocarbon chain (gasoline) are too strong to be broken down by a magnet.
Save your money.

The guy selling the item is the closest friend of my boss (at work), he gave me a brochure about it stating that if the device was not satisfactory during a period of 3 months, he would take it back and return the full amount paid... he can't lie in these matters... (my boss would kill him, ) , plus both my boss and my friend stated earlier tried it on numerous cars, they managed to realize around 25% level of improvement...

Even though Larry didn't approve on it, and there is nothing to loose (money will be back if not satisfactory) I will go for trying it...

JC Whitney has been selling these since the 70s. Theres a sucker born every minute.... think about cafe and all that. If a freakin' magnet would increase mpg by 25%, dontcha think cars would come like that? DUH=YES!!!

you are saying that those are selling from the early 70's, for cars not to come with this device, it should have some side effects... any ideas?

Fuel consumption is an *interesting* subject. Basically the tests they run mean absolutely nothing. Unless this is done scientifically on a dyno constant everything, it is not a good comparison. I can change gas mileage 150% if I want to!

The only thing I use is my foot.

These magnets are a load of bs. Spend however much money you want.

PS - They aren't made by General Motors...
GM doesn't even make most of the parts that goes on their cars.

I agree with the rest of the folks here Danny. These things do nothing for the fuel mileage.

I also believe that people try and sell to their friends first since they already have built in credibility, regardless of the product. I mean, who'd screw a friend for money right

That said, I also think that the people buy these things know in the back of their minds they are a fraud, that they've been scammed, and that if they convince others to buy them too it takes some of that buyers remorse away and makes them feel a little less gullible.

Not to discourage you Danny, but I read the "scientific" description of how the product works, and its complete BS (not bachelor of science but the other BS).

BS#1: "...using scientifically designed super conductors." Truth: There are no room temperature superconductors available that could be used in this product.

BS#2: "...breaking the hydrocarbon chains in your fuel into smaller pieces." Truth: The backbone of a gasoline molecule is formed from covalent bonds. There is no way a puny little magnet is going to break a covalent bond.

BS#3: "Fuelmax Positively charges the Hydrocarbon Molecules in the fuel." Truth: It may cause some parts of a gasoline molecule to form a dipole as the gasoline molecule passes by the magnet, but as the gasoline molecule moves away from the magnet, the dipole will fade away just as quickly as it formed.

Save your money for something that will make a difference.

We all have one fitted.

No need to by another one, we allready have a two stage magnetic 'fuel charger, breaker-up, positive ion, converter fitted.

The first stage is in the fuel pump in the tank, where the fuel passes through the magnetic field that runs the pump.

The second stage is in each injector, that magically converts the fuel, as it passes through the electro field, before injection.

This is why fuel injected cars do so much more, miles to the gallon, than the old carburettor models.

Harvey.
