This moring the driver's side door on my '92 SVXwould not unlock. It was frozen solid. I got in thru the passenger side and drove to work with the heater blasting. It thawed out and it's working fine now. I guess I need to get some deicer at PEP Boys.

My doors always unlock, but they usually freeze shut. Very tricky indeed....

That happened to me yesterday morning after the temp got down to 20* overnight - except both of my locks were frozen.

I fiddled with my driver's side lock for a minute or so with the key and eventually the lock turned. I kept taking the key out, warming it up in my hands and re-inserting it.

Silicone the rubber seals. It will keep the moisture from attaching to the rubber and freezing.

I don't think moiture will have that effect .... compressing doors??

I have done this before. One winter it was sooooo cold that the silicon froze. Something like -10F before windchill.

If the moisture freezes then the door will not open. Happens to me all the time in the winter.

Thats why they tell you to always clean the water off the doors and what not in really cold climates. Pulling your wipers outward so that it doesnt stick to the windshield isnt a bad idea either. But then again thats why we have that handy winter wiper switch

i had that happen to me all the damn time I HATED IT! i didn't have remote door locks either, my thingy was broken. that is another thing i LOVE about my remote starter, i don't even have frost now!
