Subaru SVX Cabin Filter ?

I browsed all over... does anyone know the information for the cabin filter part number for the SVX? BOSCH filter? OEM filter? Costs?

The cabin of my svx smells horrible and I know it's the cabin filter with mold on it from the years. EVERYONE should change the filter every 15k miles. Most drivers have no idea they even have one.

Hopefully someone knows.

There is no cab filter in the SVX, very few cars, percentage-wise, have cab filters.

What happens is moisture trapped in the evaporator fins promotes the growth of mold. There are products that are made to kill the mold and products to cycle the blower motor on and off after the ignition has been turned off. Do a search, this has been discussed in the past. (hint: search for 'air sept')

Personally, I drilled a small hole in the evap case under the dash (careful not to drill into the evap) and used an unscented, aerosol foaming bathroom cleaner injected through a spray straw. Do this with the blower off, manipulating the straw in order to coat the evap fins. Let it soak 10-15 minutes, turn on the blower for a couple seconds in order to push the cleaner a bit deeper into the evap core and let sit another 10-15 minutes. While it is sitting is a good time to locate and affix a suitable plug to the hole. Next start the car and turn the heater on at max temp and let idle for thirty minutes or so in order to completely dry the evap core. The smell should be completely gone when finished.

True. Subaru never put a cabin filter in the SVX. Along with the previous suggestion, you could also try using a vent cleaner like "Frigi Fresh". That would take care of any mold that might be in the vents. You also might want to look for dead rodents in the engine bay.......that could cause a stink in the vents.
