TCU Self Diagnostics for '96 & '97 SVXs
I apologize if this has already been discovered / known about but I couldn't find it mentioned previously.
The self diagnostic procedure for the SVX's TCU has been covered many times on these forums, but the procedure always seemed to suggest that it only worked on the OBD1 cars, since the OBD2 cars lack the "Power" mode indicator lamp. Earlier today, I was looking through the 1996 Factory Service Manual Supplement, and I found that the blink codes are still accessable on the OBD2 cars, using the same old procedure. However, since there is no "Power" mode indicator, the blink codes are shown using the "AT Oil Temp" indicator. I just went out and tested it on my '96, and it worked. TCU Self Test Procedure & Codes - one of many descriptions of the procedure and codes. I'm going to try some of the other self diagnostic procedures and see just how much the OBD2 cars retained. - John

Hi John
That's great as it will save a few people from the dealer charge. John
