I still can't vote but would say that your value is in the 5-6k range. Basically your insurance should cover the cost of replacing the car with the same car in similar condition. The best thing you can do if you think they are lowballing you (which by the way any insurance adjuster will do b/c this is how they make their money!) is provide current ads for SVXs in similar condition. That said I'd be happy to put mine up for sale for a mere $14k. Seriously though. Wait a week, provide a counter offer, wait another week. The insurance co. will want to settle ASAP. Making them wait usually ends up in your benefit $$$.

Thanks everyone for your input... I have no clue what the $3000 votes were, but whatever... I know that anyone that has seen my car in person would tell ya that it isn't worth anything less than $7,000... I actually had an offer from someone in SC a month ago (just before the Dragon) for $12,500!!! Damn, I have bad luck

Good luck on the insurance. The only thing I like about Geico is their lizard - oh, I mean gecko or what ever.

I'd expect a new car to depreciate that much, but not a used one. I'd stick to my guns at $7000.

I don't have any experience in the matter, but I'd wager that benebob is right that if you bide your time, they'll wisen up. Once they realise that you won't go away easily, they may figure that it's not worth arguing since they know you're right anyway. Don't forget that you can also call your state insurance commissioner. Perhaps a subtle hint to your Geico representative might be in order. ;)

I wish you luck.

Chris, sorry I'm late to this important thread but here is what I can add.
1st take a print out of a kelly blue book value sheet for what it would cost to buy another SVX of the same year, mileage, and condition, minus the mods. Mods mean nothing to insurance companys unless you insure the car for what you have put into it.
2nd take a copy of your sale slip with you. This is hard proof of what you paid for the car.
3rd Geico is a cheat company to payout claims at first. Stick to your facts and you can get more.
4th If you are dissatified with your claims adjuster then go to his/her boss. Going over there head is a good way to get what you want.

I worked in a body shop for about 3 years. It is a game that the insurance companys play. they charge to much and payout to little. If you have been with Geico for a while use that. And threaten to walk if all else fails. A bad letter to the BBB is a nice threat too. It is a dirty business and playing dirty help too.

Thats the best advise I can give and here is a link for you to see.

1995 SVX KBB list

Good Luck

Steve

What's the "BBB"??? I plan on being tough with them... I've already spoken to the VP of the Military Department and he told me to call him back if there are any problems... Believe me, I WILL...

The BBB is the Better Business Bureu. They can make a difference. To many complaints affects a companys standing, kinda like a credit score.

Cool..... I think I may be giving a call to them... I just faxed off all the papers that I could find to my insurance adjuster along with a letter with Harry's (Noir's) version of threats. Suttle but strong. In there I pretty much said that there is no way that they would beable to find an SVX in the same condition that mine was in for the price that they offered me. I also said that the best advertisement is not million dollar commercials that they air during the Super Bowl, but WORD OF MOUTH. Lets hope they get the point that I'm not messing around and I will not back down till I get what I've asked for... Thanks everyone for your partisapation. I sent a copy of the poll to them as well...

it won't let me vote, but my vote would be in the 6,000-7,000 range. Your SVX was one of the better examples around, and very well taken care of. Make sure you let them know that it has a Records History
