Yes, that would a dizzle of a shizzle.
The trany currently has the Level10 ValveBody. It would be nice to save it, if possible.

I have been toying around with the idea of rebuilding my old trany that came with the car, it drove the car alright, but was very slow to engage in D and R. This may be a good candidate for a How-To on a rebuild. But I'm not sure I'm up for the task
I will need to think about this one.

Anyway, I got your message about you looking for tires, unfortunatly I don't have any aftermarket, but I do have several sets of stock ones. I also have a couple of trannies for you, should you decide to keep using an auto. Send me an email with your phone number and I can call you if you'd like...
Hey Dan, you PM box is full

That depends on the amount of bits that it is catching. The right way around has a large surface area of filter to handel the crap. Backwards has only a small surface area that will fill quickly if there is enought crap.

The inlet goes to the outside surface of the filter media, then flows back thru the center portion, this filter is the same design as a standard oil filter and they do work backwards.
But then theres the RAD cooling loop that the 94 and ups have, I can't see any reason why this would not work both ways, but thats the only thing left.

But I thought we (well, you and Earl, not me) figured the route out, and it seemed okay for a bit.

Thanks Dan,
So I grabbed a trany from Dan, and guess what, on my way home in my Legend, my Legend trany went very bad, making familiar grinding noises, its a 5 speed, a little smoke from the clutch, but made it back to work.
Boy am I having fun.

Please note an update to my post in the Wanted or For Sale section.

New Trany from Dan planned to be installed by my now experienced and rather reluctant mechanic next thursday. He was willing to do it again, but he said this is not a good pattern for me

Still have not investigated true cause of failure, stay tuned.
p.s. any of you who I helped, please check your cars again, I'm cursed

My mechanic has installed the used trany.
He has made the following recommendations with regards to the flow of the trany fluid and what goes where.
Fluid should come out of trany and go to filter,
from filter, go to external cooler,
from external cooler to Rad cooler.
Justification is that Auto tranys don't like it too hot or too cold, so this flow plan is the best for all auto trany's.

As far as where I went wrong, he'll be letting me know tomorrow. He will be flushing old components, cooler, rad, and filter.
Then install new external filter, and plumb it as described above.
He will then flush the system completely, including the new trany.
He will then drop the trany pan, replace the internal filter, and the external filter, and flush-fill the system with fresh trany fluid.
He will be testing the flow.

He wanted me to confirm which line on the trany is the outbound and which is the return. He will also be chacking with a trany guy, wants to make sure there is no confusion as he suspects that would be a good reason for all my troubles.

On the trany, is the line at the front of the trany the in or the out?

Oil flow.

The hot oil flows out the front of the case. The cool lube oil goes into he case at the rear.
