These speeds are reckless and everyone should have their liscences revoked until they no longer like to drive fast cars.

wait..... is that sarcasm?

i agree they are reckless. Thats why i avoid them now. And before i would never do anything like this if other cars around. Taking my life or injuring myself is one thing, but taking someone elses life is deffinatly not a path i want to take.

What path do you want to take?
There is only one way to the top.

Hummm......Driving fast is not "reckless"....trying to operate a veh. beyond your personal abilities..... ITS....IF one is going to push his/her veh. without "THROUGHLY" knowing your veh. (tire press., tire type, suspension, engine & trans condition...ROAD condition and ANY other motorist on said road...THEN...that is reckless....There are roadways in the world where there is ...NO SPEED LIMIT...however road conditions are well maintained, road courtsyare strictly enforced and getting a "DRIVERS" Lic is difficult to get. One can drive FAST with consideration, but we have a lot of ppl who are operators....NOT....DRIVERS!!!!!!

And therein lies the part of the problem. The "other" drivers. Sorry, but 100 MPH on even any of our interstate roads is reckless in built-up areas. And unfortunately, most of the folks that do such speeds, don't pay attention to all of the things RAMSVX mentioned - like the condition of ones own vehicle, road conditions, and the possibility of someone pulling out in front of you. BTW, even in Germany, there are few places with NO speed limits; probably for these reasons.

Caution:
At any given time, expect the unexpected...
Even if your car is tip top, road conditions are fine, no other drivers are around, Wham. A deer or other animal can come thru your windshield and kill you. It can easily happen. Just be very careful, and watch out for wildlife. It is easy to forget about.
I wrote off a deer and my Subaru once. I wasn't trying to set a new landspeed record at the time thank god.
:-)

You are absolutely correct about deer. At Summit Point, a deer ran into the side of a car and stuck it's head INSIDE the open window (the car was doing at least 70 MPH at the time). Fortunately, an instructor, riding shotgun, had a full-face helmet on and survived it. He sure had a sore neck for a while. The point, even in a "controlled" race track environment, "things happen" beyond our control. And you can't go back and rewind the tape!

Haven't really tested the SVX to top speed. I know for a fact that 100 seems like about 60!!

Talking Once, Quite a while ago...

Went 142 mph (indicated) en route to Bend: she won't go over 140 without the use of PREMIUM, though!

The SVX was MUCH younger, then. And so was I!

Well not all roads... but it would be nice to have about a 5 mile straight every once in a while. lol Trust me a like a good curvy road as much as the next guy, they're just not that good for getting a top speed. Oh yeah kudos to Jim for his 150 VERY NICE!!! We should all be so lucky.
