Arrow Timing Belt Question
I am reading different opinions on when to change the timing belt.

Some say 60k, and some say 90-100k.

Please post your take on this! Thanks for the feedback!

I went to get mine done at 78k... But the Subaru Mechanics said that the timing belts are rated to 100kmiles... Besides it isn't a big deal with our engines as they are Non-Interferance, so they won't self destruct if the belt breaks...

Timing belt broke twice in my '86 GL, each at roughly 50,000 miles. Subaru said the first part probably wasn't up to snuff and even sent me a rebate check to cover a portion of the replacement cost, and in the second instance, I'd guess tensioner drag or mistreatment during installation may have been a contributing factor, but after being stranded twice, I concluded that changing ANY timing belt at 50,000 miles is realtively cheap insurance against having to hitch-hike home.

Hehehe, I can agree with that... I'll probably get mine done sometime soon... Don't think I'm gonna wait till 100k miles though... I just want to save up enough money to get all the seals and the waterpump done and anything else that I can at the same time...

Confusing mileage.
The belt should be replaced at 60,000 miles, or 100,000 kilometres.

YYea I could have confused it all up... I did come from Australia ya know... everynow and then I am driving down the road and see the speed limit that says 55 and I end up doing 55k's... Hehehehe I guess that shows that I really want to come home then dosen't it??
