O\T – Colorado

O\T – Colorado

Well my son dropped a few bombs on us last night!! He just graduated from college last Saturday… Last night he told us he’s getting married August 2nd. The wedding will be at his girlfriend’s parent’s house in Paris, TX. And, they’re going to live in Colorado… that’s a LONG way from Alabama… His girlfriend has vacationed and worked at the YMCA camp in Estes Park since she was a kid and he’s worked there one summer and has visited several times… they love the place…

I know there are several SVX’ers from the Denver/Boulder area on the board… Does anyone know of any account (Michael) or journalism (Keri) jobs out there?

Hey, he’ll be taking one of our SVX’s with him so maybe they can attend some meets…

We're really happy for him..

Bill

Wow- quite a bomb indeed. I'm sure your son will be in good hands with the svx and hopefully the future wife. I guess I'm a bomb dropper - finished school and moved from home (NY) to south carolina and married my high school sweetheart who came with me. My brother did almost the same thing as your son - finished school and moved to Colorado to be a ski and snowmobile instructor. His case was different though - after a year he moved back home and so far he hasn't married the girl he went with.

I wish I had something wise to say - your post made me realize how much I miss home and family.

Congrats....

My best wishes to your son, and his new wife to be....I'm glad they are going to settle in a place they want to be. Estes Park is beautiful. Colorado is a great place! I'm happy for them.

This will give you reason to come visit!

Thanks for the support… They don’t really know where they’ll live yet??? They’re both looking for jobs. They just know it will be in Colorado. Their first choice is Boulder, second is Denver.

It is a beautiful place… we vacationed at the YMCA camp two summers ago when he was working there… the view was awesome… it even snowed on June 17th !!!

Subymtnguy, please keep an eye out for any jobs…

Bill

Best wishes for you son and his future wife. I guess I should wish you the best as well, this will affect you as well! I am sorry, but I don't think I can help with the job situation.

jobs

Job situation here is bad, though it's about average for the country, per Bureau of Labor Statistics. I always like Monster.com for a job search, http://www.monster.com

Boulder area IS beautiful. Housing prices in Boulder "proper" are quite high, since they limit the growth rate. If you go outside of the city limits, prices are more reasonable. Traffic between Denver itself and Boulder is pretty bad (though nothing like LA or the Seattle metro area, where I originally lived).
