Front Bearings Question

Well, I'm at the point where my stereo isn't loud enough to drown out the growl of the front left wheel bearing. As far as I can tell I can do the job myself (and should have when I replaced the front axels). Now for the question. I only have a 1 ton arbor press. Is this enough to press the bearings in and out of the hub? I have access to a MUCH larger press (500 Ton) but would have to schedule time to make sure it was available. Again, thanks in advance for the help.

It should be enough but I have heard that sometimes it's not. Different posts have said they go in easy and others say, come out hard.

One ton may or may not do the job, it really depends on rust build-up, etc. The big stumbling block is the various adaptors needed to do the job correctly. Just removing the hub from the bearing can be tricky enough, no matter how heavy your press is - it really comes down to a matter of support.

Is it possible to pull the hub with a hub adapter and a slide hammer with the whole mess still on the car?

Remove the wheel, caliper, rotor, axel nut and pull the hub? From the manual it looks like it SHOULD be possible. Anyone done it that way?

I know a lot of people that do it that way but it's hard on the wrists and elbows, not to mention the hub and studs.
