front bearing
I've just laast week replaced the rear bearings at a mechanic and i told him to remove the packing grease and put new high temp grease in. i hope he kept his word ( dont want them to fall apart after 5k miles)..
my question now is if the front bearings need the same procedure as the rear to install? or is it easier? |

Re: front bearing
You should always change the grease on new wheel bearings. The rears are especially unforgiving though. Also make sure they don't overtorque the axle nuts.

Re: front bearing
Fronts are basically the same idea, but the bolts holding the knuckle on are generally more forgiving.

Re: front bearing
icingdeath88 i wasnt at the shop when they did it cuz i was working so i didnt get to see if they overtorqued the axle nuts or not, hopefully they didnt. my dad went with the car to the shop and i told him to tell them to take the packing grease off and put new grease in, i hope they did. either way for the front ones instead of paying 400 for both like i did for the back ones im planning on removing the hub myself and bringing it to my mechanic 'friend' to press the bearings out and put them back in.
