Talking I'm back!

Back from the 12K trip (19 States!) in the SVX which included (to the best of my knowledge) being the person who drove their SVX the furthest to attend Reading X in person!

Don't have actual final mileage figures, yet, but anticipate an overall gas mileage average of 27+ mpg on regular (price$ ranging from $2.07 to $2.91! per gallon) for the entire trip, whose Northern-most point was Rochester, NY, Eastern-most point being Reading X & Southern-most point St. Pete, FL.

Please advise if anyone out there knows what the "fuel pressure regulator" line looks like and where exactly it is located? I "found" a rubber vacuum line (6-7 inches long, black plastic fittings, approximate 90 degree bend) line in the passenger side of the belly pan right after I had some a/c work done and I think the dope that did the work might have knocked something off and not mentioned it...

Great to be home!

Cheers!

Re: I'm back!

Way to go, Huck! That was it, exactly: the a/c guy knocked it off when he replaced the hard a/c line that takes the threaded sensor. He also misrouted the a/c line to the compressor under the alternator wiring loom, broke the plastic guard, shoved a relay into the gap where the hood latches, etc.

For this I paid him han$omely: wait 'till he finds out what the wiring harness he butchered co$t$!

Now, what do you think caused my low fuel warning lamp to come on with about a quarter tank of gas left? It was filled in Caldwell, ID, estimated elevation 2,385 ft. and the light came on west of Arlington, OR, at about 2,100+ ft. LOWER elevation?

As soon as I stopped and put in some gas the light went off. There was about a 1/4 tank because when I added 8 gallons, or so, the gauge went to about 3/4ths. There was no "WHOOSH!" in either direction when I gently unscrewed the fuel cap, either...

Thanks, again for the right call on the hose!

Cheers!

You're welcome....

But I have no ideal on your low-fuel light...

Thumbs up Re: I'm back!

Well, the low fuel warning light is still out, the mileage did average over 27 (but just over 27!) on regular for the entire trip (more like 11,500 miles than 12K) and the lowest cost gas I bought was back in early April @ $1.859 in Missouri!

Changed the oil & filter once (2nd trip through Rochester, NY) and used a gallon of RTS 5W-40 & a couple quarts of $1/quart 5W-20 FormulaShell that were available. Used about 1 quart of additional oil on the outbound trip and about a quart on the return.

BTW, there is a really great deal on 5 quart containers of Pennzoil Platinum going on at WallyWorld until the end of the month: $20 for 5 quarts and a rebated $15 WalMart Giftcard by mail.

That's a buck a quart (plus tax and a stamp) for one of the best oils out there (IMHO).

The Les Schwab boys stripped a front stud & lugnut when they rotated and re-balanced my tires upon the return, but other than that it was as uneventful (from a maintenance/repair standpoint) as any cross-country trip could have been!

I really love my SVX and still consider it the best NEW car that we ever purchased, and that includes a 1986 Acura Legend and a couple CIVIC's.

Cheers!
