Thumbs up Awesome GPS hack, use as PDA + more !!

This site shows you how to easily turn your GPS unit into a Windows CE Palm Pilot complete with games, programs, and media players etc. This would be great for passengers on long trips, or just to mess around with.

The program is called MioPocket 3.0 and looks awesome! Its also freeware with massive forum support. As soon as I get my Nextar, im going to unlock it with the instructions on this site and install TomTom software so I can update my maps.

Check it out here: http://gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic...OPIC_ID=126303

Heres a screenshot of one of the programs skins:

Re: Awesome GPS hack, use as PDA + more !!

Isn't this only for the Mio brand of GPS receivers?

Answer is in the link you provided, but I will post it here for ease of reference.

Quote:
MioPocket should run on all Mio GPS devices and can be made to run on a great many non-Mio, WinCE-based GPS devices, as well. Due to the great number of included programs/features and the wide range of models that MioPocket can run on, not quite all applications or features will work on every single model. Non-Mio brands that MioPocket reportedly works on include Magellan Maestro, Navigon, Harman Kardon, Asus, Navman, Omnitech, Loox, Becker, Insignia and some others that run Windows CE, but installation instructions for all devices may not be included. See the Readme file and, if instructions are not included for those devices, check the appropriate forums at gpspassion.com to learn how to tweak MioPocket to unlock them. Note that TomTom and Garmin devices are Linux-based and, hence, MioPocket (which is Windows CE-based) cannot run on them.

So dont use it...............

And for Chris's question, it runs on almost ANY GPS thats Windows CE based. I found it interesting since you can expand the functionality of your GPS far beyond what you paid for it.

And as for cluttering up the unit, if some people actually read about it, they would find that most GPS units (non-Linux) ALREADY run Windows CE, and the nav software is just another app running on it. This allows you to run whatever you want, and use it as a GPS when you want it to, like any Windows program. Besides, you can install in either the flash memory OR an SD card, meaning you can use the MioPocket whenever you want or just return it to stock.
