Re: Need need need!

Remove the speed sensor and the rubber/metal washer. In the differential, you will see a slot that drives the tab on the speed sensor. Stick a screwdriver in that slot and turn.

I don't recall which direction is which?? One direction it won't turn, the other direction it will turn and rise for 1-2 turns then stop. If it acts like this, then yeah it probably is the Speed sensor.

If that spins freely in both directions the problem is mechanically in the front diff.

If you need a speed sensor, I have one. Send me a PM to let me know.

Re: Need need need!

Another way to determine if it's the speed sensor is to remove the sensor from the tranny. Leave it attached to the wiring harness. Get a mirror and prop it up on the steering wheel so you can see the Speeometer from under the hood.

Turn the ignition key on. USe a cordless drill to turn the speed sensor key. YOu can't hurt it turning it in either direction. So give it a few spins at high RPM to see if the gauge moves in either CCW or CW rotation (i can't remember which way it turns). If the gauge does'nt move you know the sensor is bad.

I have a tested good sensor for sale if you need one. PM me if needed/interested.

thanks,
Marc
