Anybody have a newer Volvo

Traced down the wife's exhaust rattle today. Seems to be coming from inside the y-pipe. I think this may be the last issue I'm willing to deal with for the pleasure of owning a new subaru. Like the look of the new c30. I know the old model S40 had some issues but the redesign and the ridding of the mitsu engine seemed to solve most of the issues. Wish it came in a non- turbo and an awd version. Then again if it did I'd already be $25k in debt on it. Anybody have any personal experience on the newer Volvos?

How's the 40 been? My understanding is the 30 is very similar in architecture to the 40 and shares the engine and tranny.

Hmm how can I say this without bashing them.....

I wouldnt touch the old style, 2004 and below. the 2004.5 and up arent too bad. the T5 6mt AWD is a blast to drive. I have not had any seat time with the c30 yet. you are correct they are basically the same as an S40.

Up untill about late 2006 they have some wiring issues in the door harness. corrosion on the terminal causing window and locking issues. The have alot of software corrections for radio/climate control/ network etc. The bugs are pretty much worked out at this point.

I have not replaced one engine or tranny in a 2004.5- S40. I have seen other techs do them but from customer neglect.

Well its a step above the GT in the driveway

Yeah its the newer one I'm talking about. Still has some electrical issues huh? I though Ford had beaten that out of Volvo by now.

I thought Ford had infested Volvo with issues. Weren't they really reliable back in the day?

Quality is job 29

Save your money and go buy a new Taurus X. Why buy a rebadged Ford when you can just stop at the source

mechanically they still are reliable. except for the s80 and xc90 with the 4t65 trans. volvos biggest thing is saftey. Thats what they have over plain fords. I dont know of any other car that has features like the new 2008- S80. and in a few years they will be even more advanced.

Remember my Ford f-250 has had fewer issues than both mine and your new subarus since I bought it. Its 10 years older too.
