Several times in the past we've asked or polled which is the best day to hold these events - Saturday beat Sunday by an overwhelming majority.
For the majority of people that work M-F, Saturday works better, especially if you are travelling long distance to get to the event. You can leave Friday evening or early Saturday morning to get to the location. After the event Saturday, you have a whole extra day left so you can spend the night, or drive home all night and sleep in Sunday. Even for the "locals", if an event runs until 6:00pm, it is better on a Saturday, by 6:00pm on a Sunday most people want to wind down and start dreading Monday morning. For much of the 5+ years I've done this, I myself had jobs where I was scheduled on Saturdays. I just requested those days off in advance specifically for the events, just as I would for any other vacation. Even now in my "M-F/9-5" job, I have taken a couple of Fridays off out of my limited vacation bank specifically for SVX events. To me, they are no different than a family reunion, a wedding, etc. I am getting together with friends for something that is a lot of fun for me, and it only happens a few times a year. Of course, everyone's situation is different. All we as event organizers can hope to do is to get the dates announced far enough in advance so as to allow everyone ample time to plan for it and make any arrangements needed to attend. Sometimes we aren't as good at that as others, but we try.

I agree. Saturday is by far the best day, and we still don't have that good of attendance. I am still surprised that there are not more members who attend these meets after having so much fun at them and they only happen about 4 times per year.
