It's only on the Japanese cars zavikan.

We don't have a way of knowing what the parts are, because it is part of the remote JDM central locking system. This is not shown on the Oz or NZ models, so is not in the English language WSM.

No doubt it is in the Japanese language one, but nobody we know has such a manual.

Unhappy Things don't add up...

That link earlier showed directions for it in english, (logically) I would assume there would be some sort of english swm for it too... Odd. If the Oz one has it, then it has JDM central locking? but no repair manual? That doesn't make much sense... what would australian subaru dealers do to fix it? I would think Subaru would of provided them with the ability....

The infrared has a transmitter built into the ignition key and a receiver in the driver's door handle. You have to hold the key about 6 inches away and aim it really carefully. You squeeze the key and it sends a signal to lock or unlock the doors.

As far a parts go, you would need the key, the door handle with the sensor, the control module which is located by the driver's seatbelt reel and probably some wiring. The problem with fitting it to a USDM car is the door handle is for the right side so you would have to remove the sensor and modify a left door handle to fit it.

You are incorrect in your assumptions here.

The English language instructions you read are from a translation of the Japanese Owner's Manual.

As previously mentioned, Australian cars don't have it, so it is not shown in the Oz Workshop Manual.

We do not as yet have access to a Japanese WSM, or to a translation of it.
